LIONS SIGN GOMOLSKI

Leicester have swooped to sign the former Under-21 World Cup Champion Kacper Gomolski.

The twenty-three year old from Gniezno, Poland last raced in this country for Poole in 2015 where he helped the Dorset club win the Elite League title. Gomolski produced an unforgettable four laps to win Heat 14 in the second leg of the play-off final against Belle Vue which secured the title for the Pirates.

Gomolski said: “I am really happy that I will race in UK again. As always I race every two years in UK. It will be big year for Leicester club and also for myself. We both need to rebuild our name.

“Last my British experience was in Poole in 2015 - that was really important year for me. Heat where I won and it gave title for Pirates gave me wings and I believe I can mark my surname in British League much better. I am glad new owner of club decided to use my person in his club. I wanted back to UK. I know a lot of people asked me about that. I want thank to all people who write me on twitter nice words - its big pleasure for me.

“I want be strong point of club, but also want learn British speedway and tracks, still need to build experience on tracks. Important fact is my tuner has base in UK and racing in British league will help me to visit him more than normal. I would like to say all the best for Lions fans, hope we will make good show at your stadium and you will support us. Also I hope Polish people who live around Leicester area will come for stadium. Not far is Peterborough so hope few people who remember me from 2011 will come few times also. Gomolski was given his first opportunity in British Speedway by Peterborough six years ago and afterwards had a spell with Swindon before Poole snapped him up where he scored over 200 points for the title winning side.

“We are really looking forward to working with Kacper and welcome him as part of the new team for this coming season” said the Lions Promoter Dave Darcy.

Leicester’s latest signing will make his debut for the team in their opening Premiership fixture of the season when the Lions face Swindon, one of Kacper’s previous clubs, at Beaumont Park on Saturday 1st April.
